Wildfire Concerns

As many of you will know, the fire brigade was called out to a fire in the village, opposite the sewage works, at approximately 8:20 PM on Tuesday, 20th May.

Fortunately, the fire was extinguished quickly before it gained too much momentum. However, if it had been left any longer, it could have spread rapidly.

With the current dry weather, the risk of wildfires has increased significantly, and fires can escalate quickly.

We therefore urge everyone to exercise great caution and avoid any actions that could increase the risk of fire. The consequences can be severe.

Areas such as Goyt Valley, Galloway Forest Park, and Saddleworth Moor have already suffered devastating fires this year, we do not want Leadhills to be next.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping keep our community and environment safe.
